Reading at home

We want every child at Bucklesham to embed a love for reading, so below are some ideas and links that may help promote/extend that love for reading at home.

E-books
These are great alternative for those children who enjoy reading digitally:

Audiobooks
These are great for when travelling:

Suffolk Libraries
This website contains E-books, Audiobooks, online newspapers and magazines, a click and collect service to reserve books and much more.

Joke books
You can find joke books in many supermarkets, online shops and charity shops. Children who don't necessarily love to read may find pleasure in reading and sharing jokes.

Comics and magazines
Some children discover they love reading when it is in a different format to what they are used to, such as comics and magazines. Exposing your child to a variety of reading resources is a great way to find out what they truly enjoy.

 Instructions
Instructions are a great way to encourage your child to read more at home. Either through building/creating something, or using cookbooks to help with the cooking and baking at home. Sometimes, children may feel motivated to read when there is a final product they can work towards.

Visit a Library
Visiting your local library and borrowing books is free and gives your child a chance to explore a wide variety of books.

Try out these ideas if you haven't already, and let us know what works for your child at home!
