Schools' Football Week 7th - 13th February 2022.
Schools' Football Week is an ongoing ESFA initiative designed as an opportunity for schools, Associations, teams and clubs from across the country to embrace schools' football and the wellbeing benefits it provides to pupils and players. It celebrates the importance of schools' football, competitive or otherwise, to pupils across England and provides teachers and coaches with tools and a motivation to further discuss the benefits of schools' football within their educational environment. The main focus for Schools' Football Week 2021 was to provide an opportunity for children to get outside, have fun and enjoy being able to play sport with their school friends, after so much time spent in lockdown. We are sticking to these principles for 2022, but with the schools' football season in full swing for 21/22, the ESFA has received an all-time record number of girls' team entries. SFW presents the perfect opportunity to go one step further to highlight and celebrate girls' football too.

A WIN FOR BUCKLESHAM!
Five girls from year 5+6 won the virtual football event for their age group.
Fantastic achievement well done girls.
We Did It!
Bucklesham Primary walked to Lapland this week!
A total of 3,400,000! wow! That's a lot of steps.
Well done to everyone who took part, all the children and the staff.
Each year group went out to walk or run the School games Santa Dash event. The first group of children got pretty wet as it was raining heavily, but they persevered and carried on. The staff also took part and it was lovely for the children to walk or run with them. They all enjoy this event!
B.S.A Walk to Lapland Event.
Bucklesham School Association
Sponsored Walk to Lapland
The school community will be running a sponsored walk to Lapland, which will take place over the course of a school week (Monday 7th December – Friday 11th December), and it would be amazing if they could achieve the journey back to Bucklesham too!
We have calculated Bucklesham to Lapland to be 1,782 miles which is the equivalent to approximately 3,564,000 steps – this give an approximate step count for each participant of 35,000.
We hope this challenge will provide the children with a reason to get up and move at what we know is a difficult time with many changes and restrictions on their normal routines due to Covid. A huge benefit to both their physical and mental health whilst also raising much needed funds for the school.
If the children can collect some sponsors, we then ask that all forms and sponsor money are returned to school in a sealed envelope no later than Thursday 17th December. We request any BACS sponsor payments to be made by Monday 14th December. Please ensure these deadlines are met so that we are able to confirm in the final assembly before Christmas Break.
How It Will Work:
· On Monday 7th December the children will each be given a brand new pedometer, which will then be there’s to keep. (Please do ensure they have it on them for the duration of the challenge)
· Every morning when the children come into school they will provide their step count which will be recorded by staff and then they will reset the pedometer with the button on the front to begin the next day.
· If for any reason a child’s pedometer accidentally resets between daily readings they will automatically be credited with a pre agreed number of steps.
· On Friday 11th December no step count will be taken in the morning but instead before they leave to go home. At this point all steps will be tallied up and announcements will come in the week to follow.
So… Ready, set, go!!!
And don’t forget to have some fun with it too!
Don’t forget to join ‘Bucklesham School Association’ on Facebook to keep up to date. Updates will also be posted on Class Dojo and Parentmail.

Aimed mainly at primary-aged children, a different theme has been assigned for each day of the club - Adventure Monday, Tuesday Play, Wild Wednesday, Thinking Thursday and Fun Friday. The YST hope that this will provide support, capacity and inspiration to the School Games network and sit alongside the other great work and offers that are available for schools and children and young people to engage in.
