'Working Hard, Aiming High'

Daily Update

Dear Parents/ Carers

I hope you are all keeping well.

I want to take this time to say thank you for all the pictures sent of the activities the children have been doing. The teachers will continue to upload home learning to the website to help support you as well as regular feeds from our twitter page.
I am seeing many threads online with the same general theme, so I wanted to reassure you all that you should be proud of everything you are doing at home with your children and know that we all appreciate that you are doing your best. People may be feeling stressed, overwhelmed and under pressure by the work being sent home for children. I hope this can help ease any pressure you may be feeling.
It is important to remember that this is not elective home schooling. This is an unprecedented emergency situation impacting the whole world. Home schooling is a choice, where you plan for it and you are your child’s school teacher in whatever form you choose. This current situation is at best distance learning. In reality, it is everyone trying to make best of a situation because it is something we have never faced.
You are, and always have been, your child’s primary educator. If you decide that your child isn’t going to engage with anything sent home and is going to spend the entire period playing outside or indoors or completing different activities, that is your choice and your right. This is nothing to feel guilty or stressed about.
Please don’t feel the pressure to complete every piece of work and access every link we have sent out.  These are suggestions and ideas as we want to ensure you have too much, rather than too little.  Use them if they suit you.
Even if everything were equal in terms of support and time (which it’s not) children learn at different rates. In the class, there are a wide range of levels in all subjects, there are different paces and there are many children working on differentiated level of work. It is almost impossible for teachers to differentiate at the moment, so select the parts that suit your child by expectation and by time.
Your child will not fall behind. If children could learn new concepts without specific teaching, we would not need teachers. They will cover all of the content again, multiple times.
This is an opportunity to spend time with our families and particularly our children. Yours and their mental health is extremely important at this time. De-stress the situation and enjoy quality time with your amazing children. We miss them all.
I hope this message reassures you that you are all doing a great job in these difficult circumstances and we are here to help if you need it. Please contact me on the email and I will reply as soon as I can.
Please stay safe and keep well.
Best Wishes
Mrs Lea
