Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to underachievement.
These include:
- Children entitled to Free School Meals (FSM)
- Ever 6 children (those who have been eligible for Free School Meals at some point during their six years at Primary school)
- Children "looked after" by the Local Authority
- The children of Armed Service Personnel
"It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility" (DfE website)
All schools are required to publish online the following information regarding their pupil premium strategy
- The amount of pupil premium allocation for the current financial year is - £23185 (17% of our pupils)
- The summary of the main barriers faced by eligible children and how allocation is to be spent to address those barriers
- How the impact will be measured: Bucklesham Primary has timetabled termly progress reviews as part of the school's assessment calendar. Attainment and PROGRESS of children eligible for pupil premium are compared with the national picture for disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged children. We also compare the pupil premium group with those that are not eligible to help identify any further trends or barriers.
Pupil Premium is a key focus for school leaders (Senior Leadership Team and Governors) to ensure that children eligible achieve in line with their non-eligible peers both nationally and within the school setting
